The Croatian Social Impact Manager training programme pilot wrapped up in June. The successful programme led by the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Rijeka, (EFRI) secured 26 applicants, with 21 of them actively participating in the programme. The programme, which ran from April 22nd until June 17th, tackled the following topics:
– Why should companies include social impact in their strategies?
– The Genesis of the Emergence of Corporations through the Interpretation of the Origin of Value and the Theoretical Explanations of the Need for Corporate Governance
– Corporate Governance & Strategy
– Territorial analysis
– Stakeholder engagement
– Partnership and cooperation in the function of local development
– Project Management
– Impact assessment and reporting
Participants also experienced a study visit to Jadran-Galenski Laboratorij (JGL), a leading Croatian company in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector.
The flagship final SIM event hosted at EFRI was a hackathon competition. This was a full-day workshop where participants, working in teams, developed innovative solutions for real social challenges. Some of these included creating positive social impact through board games, addressing the issue of fundraising for local (small-scale) initiatives, tackling the challenge of developing and sustaining a culture of volunteering within companies, and designing concepts for inclusive entrepreneurship and socially responsible business ventures.
With the support of the associations DIP (Marta Berčić) and SMART (Zvijezdana Schulz Vugrin and Igor Bajok), as well as expert guidance from Neven Tamarut (StepRI), seven teams presented their final solutions. The most successful among them were Team Tea/Čaj (Tessa Kapetanović, Antea Krišto, Erik Franjković), Team 3AM (Andrea Pokrajac, Antonia Vinčar, Ana Jerčinović, Mia Maras), and Team No.1 (Tea Srdoč, Loren Vitasović, Toni Gašparac).
Selected participants will have the opportunity to attend the International SIM School in Paris this November, an exclusive, fully funded event that brings together global leaders in social impact for three days of collaboration, inspiration, and growth. Thanks to European Commission funding, the SIM program is completely free of charge, opening doors for passionate people to drive meaningful change without financial barriers.
